17 MONTHS OF YUDH NASHIAN VIRUDH: OVER 75K DRUG SMUGGLERS HELD WITH 3472KG HEROIN

CHANDIGARH, August 1 (WISHAVWARTA);- With the ongoing decisive war against drugs ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has completed 17 months, Punjab Police has registered 54,916 first information reports (FIRs) and arrested 75,102 drug smugglers leading to the recovery of 3472 kg heroin since March 1, 2025.
Since the launch of this anti-drug drive, Punjab Police, under the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, has been conducting operations daily simultaneously in all the 28 Police districts of the state.
Apart from the recovery of 3472 kg haul of heroin, Special DGP Law and Order Praveen Sinha said that police have also seized 871 kg opium, 425 quintals poppy husk, 86 kg charas, 1193 kg ganja, 60 kg ICE, 60.78 lakh intoxicant pills/tablets, and ₹21.64 crore drug money.
On day 518, Punjab Police has arrested 91 drug smugglers arrested on Saturday and recovered 20.3 kg heroin, 15,249 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 3800 drug money from their possession. As part of De-addiction, the Punjab Police has convinced 11 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.
Meanwhile, Police teams have continued ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign on Day 193 with 350 individuals arrested with four weapons after 586 raids, while, preventive action has been taken against 230 persons and four proclaimed offenders (POs) were also held. People can anonymously report information related to wanted criminals and gangsters, and also share tips on crime and criminal activity, through the Anti Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.
