PUNJAB NEWS: Vigilance Bureau registers bribery case against Kanungo for demanding Rs 15000
Chandigarh August 14, 2024 (WISHAVWARTA)- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, has registered a corruption case against Chamkaur Singh, Field Kanugo, posted in tehsil Ajitwal, Moga district for demanding a bribe of Rs. 15000.
Giving this information here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said this case has been registered against the said Kanungo based on a complaint lodged by the Kewal Singh, a resident of village Madoke, district Moga on the Chief Minister’s Anti-corruption Action Line and the audio recording submitted as an evidence to the bureau.
He further informed that during the verification of this audio recording, it was found that the Court of Assistant Collector, Ajitwal, Moga district had issued a warrant to intervene for facilitating the possession of land to the complainant and the said Kanungo had demanded Rs 15000 bribe form the complainant to help him in this regard which has been proved to be true and correct. Subsequently, based on this investigative report, a case against Chamkaur Singh Kanungo has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station Ferozepur range. Further investigation into this case was under progress during which the role of another employee posted at this tehsil office would also be probed, he said.
