Scholarships Empower Divyang Students In Punjab: Dr. Baljit Kaur
Says, Rs. 3.08 crore disbursed to 12607 divyang beneficiaries under scholarship scheme
Chandigarh, June 11 (WISHAVWARTA):- The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to the welfare of the divyang persons. To fulfill this purpose, under the guidance of Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, Social Security, Women and Child Development Department is continuously working to help divyang students. Rs 3.08 crore distributed to 12607 beneficiaries under Scholarship Scheme for Candidate Handicapped Boys and Girls and Scholarship Scheme for Handicap in Punjab state and Rs. 39.71 lakh distributed to 249 students under National Scholarship Scheme.
Divulging in this regard, Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that during the financial year 2023-24, scholarships worth Rs. 3.08 crore have been disbursed to 12607 beneficiaries under Scholarship Scheme for Candidate Handicapped Boys and Girls and Scholarship Scheme for Handicap in the state of Punjab.
The Minister further informed that under the Scholarship for Handicapped Boys and Girls scheme, stipend of Rs 200 per month is being given to disabled students from class I to VIII. She said that students studying from IXth to degree level are given a stipend of Rs. 300 per month. She said that under the special stipend scheme, benefits are given to raise the level of education of divyang girls studying in villages.
The minister said that apart from this, an additional stipend of Rs. 100 per month is given from 1st to 10th and Rs. 200 per month from Xth to degree level studies.
Furthermore, Dr. Baljit kaur explained that during the financial year 2023-24, a benefit of Rs. 39.71 lakh has been disbursed to 249 students under the National Scholarship to Handicap Scheme. She said that the aim of this scheme is to provide monthly financial assistance to divyang students, so that there is no difficulty in their studies and their standard of living can be raised.
