SAS Nagar Police Intensifies Action Against Illegal Mining
Four Vehicles Confiscated; Three FIRs Registered
SAS Nagar, November 2 (WISHAVWARTA):- In a determined move to curb illegal mining activities in the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, the Mohali Police has intensified its crackdown on individuals involved in such unlawful operations.
Sharing details of the action taken a day earlier, Senior Superintendent of Police, Harmandeep Singh Hans, informed that four vehicles engaged in illegal mining have been confiscated, and three FIRs have been registered in the Dera Bassi Sub-Division.
The SSP stated that the operation was carried out under the monitoring of Manpreet Singh, Superintendent of Police (Rural) and direct supervision of Bikramjit Singh Brar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dera Bassi. Special police teams were constituted by the Station House Officers of Police Stations Dera Bassi, Lalru, and Handesra. These teams conducted intensive nakabandi and raids in several areas, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and seizure of four vehicles involved in illegal mining.
The vehicles taken into custody include Two Tippers bearing registration no. PB65BL7619 and PB65AV1252 and two Tractor-Trollies having registration no. PB70M4082 and another one without number.
Elaborating on the registered cases, the SSP informed that FIR No. 311 dated 01-11-2025 under Sections 4(1) and 21(1) of the Mining Act was lodged at Police Station Dera Bassi; FIR No. 175 dated 01-11-2025 under the same sections was registered at Police Station Lalru; and FIR No. 58 dated 01-11-2025 was lodged at Police Station Handesra.
Reiterating the police department’s resolve, SSP Hans emphasized that the SAS Nagar Police remains committed to taking strict and continuous action against illegal mining and other unlawful activities. He added that anti-social elements will not be spared under any circumstances.
