SAS Nagar Municipal Councils Achieve Record Property Tax Collection of Rs 1143.49 Lakh in Just 19 Days
Residents Respond Enthusiastically to State Government’s One-Time Settlement Scheme

SAS Nagar, July 19, 2025 (WISHAVWARTA): In a remarkable achievement, the Urban Local Bodies of SAS Nagar district have collected a record Rs 1143.49 lakh in property tax dues within just 19 days, thanks to the overwhelming response to the Punjab Government’s One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme.
Sharing the details, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal informed that this unprecedented recovery reflects the success of the OTS scheme announced by Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, which offers significant relief on pending property tax dues.
As per the data, from July 1 to July 19, 2025, the municipal councils across the district recorded collections: MC Banur: Rs 17.02 lakh,
Dera Bassi: Rs 96.45 lakh, Kurali: Rs 22.25 lakh, Kharar: Rs 209.00 lakh, Lalru: Rs 12.39 lakh, Nayagaon: Rs 32.50 lakh and Zirakpur: Rs 753.88 lakh
DC Komal Mittal elaborated that under the OTS scheme, residents with unpaid or partially paid property tax dues till March 31, 2025, can avail full waiver of penalty and interest if they clear the principal amount in full by July 31, 2025. If the dues are paid between August 1 and October 31, 2025, then 50% of the penalty and interest will be waived. After October 31, full penalty and interest as per applicable laws will be reinstated.
In view of the overwhelming response, the Deputy Commissioner added that Municipal Council offices will remain open on weekends to facilitate citizens who are otherwise busy during weekdays till July 31.
To monitor progress and encourage the public, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development), Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, visited Zirakpur and Kharar Municipal Councils today. He expressed satisfaction over the positive response from residents and the proactive efforts of the municipal staff.
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal urged all residents to take full advantage of the scheme by visiting their respective Municipal Councils and clearing their outstanding property tax dues within the stipulated period.
