Amritsar, May 14, 2026 (WISHAVWARTA) — Dubai-based noted businessman and chief of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust, Dr S.P. Singh Oberoi, who has been spending crores of rupees from his own pocket on humanitarian works without collecting even a single penny from anyone, today inaugurated the “Sunny Oberoi Clinical Lab and Diagnostic Centre” established at Guru Nanak Dev University in dedication to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
The inauguration of the laboratory was jointly carried out by Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, and Dr. Sarabjinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Sunny Oberoi Vivek Sadan, in the presence of Dr. Oberoi. Trustee Dr. Satnam Singh Nijjar and Punjab President Sukhjinder Singh Her were also present on the occasion.
Speaking after the inauguration of the laboratory, established in collaboration with Guru Nanak Dev University, Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi said that this low-cost laboratory set up by the Trust would provide major relief to nearly 15,000 students studying at the university as well as hundreds of officers and employees working in various departments. He further said that the Trust would soon open two collection centres of the lab for the convenience of people residing around the university campus.
According to Dr. Oberoi, under the Trust’s target of establishing 200 laboratories, more than 150 laboratories have already been opened in Punjab and other states. During the past year alone, over 27 lakh people benefited by getting their tests conducted at nominal rates.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh and Dr. Sarabjinder Singh appreciated the exemplary humanitarian services being rendered by Dr. S.P. Singh Oberoi in Punjab and other states. They said that Dr. Oberoi always comes forward first during difficult times and his selfless contribution, especially in the fields of health and education, is unparalleled.
