Chandigarh 14 March 2025 (WISHAVWARTA);- Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora said that
our government is enhancing the global competitiveness of the State’s textile sector. The Dyeing and Finishing Industry plays a crucial role in strengthening the textile value chain by enhancing the quality, durability, and aesthetic appeal of fabrics and garments. As an integral part of the textile ecosystem, this sector adds significant value to yarns and fabrics, enabling manufacturers to meet the evolving demands of domestic and international markets.
He said environment friendly policies are being made so that these policies will be immensely beneficial for textile sector.
He added that Punjab has developed a strong textile manufacturing base, particularly in Ludhiana, Amritsar, and surrounding industrial clusters, where dyeing and finishing units support the large network of spinning, weaving, and garment manufacturing industries. These units play a vital role in ensuring that Punjab’s textile products maintain high standards of quality, color consistency, and finishing required for global markets.
Recognising the importance of this sector, the Government of Punjab is committed to promoting investments in modern dyeing and finishing infrastructure that adopts advanced technologies, improves efficiency, and supports sustainable manufacturing practices. Our policy framework encourages the establishment of modern processing facilities equipped with energy-efficient machinery, water recycling systems, and environmentally responsible treatment technologies.
He highlighted that the Punjab Government offers a competitive incentive structure including capital subsidies, SGST reimbursement, employment generation incentives, electricity duty exemption, and infrastructure support, enabling enterprises to modernize existing facilities and establish new processing units.
Punjab’s strong textile clusters, skilled workforce, and robust industrial supply chains provide a solid foundation for the continued growth of the dyeing and finishing sector. The Government is also encouraging environmentally sustainable practices, including the adoption of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems, and water-efficient processing technologies.
Priyank Bharti Secretary ScienceTechnology & Environment said that action has been taken to enhance textile production capacity and make this production environment friendly.
Mr. Rajnish Gupta, Chairman, Bala Ji Dyeing said Punjab Government help is required for betterment of the textile industry.
Mr.Ashok Makkar, Chairman, Punjab Dyers Association said that Punjab Government is resolving our problems and he appreciated the working of Industry Minister. We are facing challenges from China. We need State Government help to compete with China textile industry.
Ms. Priyanka Goyal, Vice President, Associated Industrial Association said that strong textile cluster and textile industrialists need to use organic colour resultantly reduce water pollution. We have to follow ISO standard norms in dyeing sector.
