Mayor Saurabh Joshi honours women beneficiaries, distributes sewing machines at NGO’s 8th foundation day

Chandigarh, May 17 (WISHAVWARTA):- Mayor of Chandigarh Sh. Saurabh Joshi honoured women beneficiaries and distributed sewing machines to promote self-employment and financial independence during the 8th foundation day celebration of the Woman and Child Welfare Society, Sector 45-D, Chandigarh, held at Tagore Theatre on Sunday evening.
The NGO, registered under NITI Aayog, Government of India, organised the event with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour in the presence of social workers, dignitaries, artists, and members of civil society. Director, NYCS, Vikas Rana attended the programme as the Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Mayor appreciated the dedicated efforts of the organisation towards women empowerment, skill development, and social welfare. He emphasized that empowering women through skill-based initiatives and self-reliance programmes is essential for building an inclusive and progressive society. He also encouraged greater community participation in social welfare initiatives.
During the programme, the official website of the NGO was formally launched. Certificates were also presented to participants and contributors for their valuable contribution towards welfare activities.
A colourful cultural programme comprising music, dance, and poetry performances added vibrancy to the celebration and received huge appreciation from the audience.
