MP Atul Garg inaugurated “Khelo Chandigarh Games 2026” in a grand manner; more than 2000 players participating
“Khelo Chandigarh Games 2026,” organized by the Sports Cell of Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh Pradesh, commenced today with great enthusiasm and grandeur at the Gymnasium Hall of Panjab University, Sector-14. The event was inaugurated by Chandigarh Pradesh In-charge and Member of Parliament from Ghaziabad, Atul Garg. The entire venue reflected a vibrant atmosphere filled with patriotism, sportsmanship, and youthful energy.
During the program, the ceremonial torch symbolizing sportsmanship and enthusiasm was lit to formally inaugurate “Khelo Chandigarh Games 2026.” The torch-lighting ceremony echoed with applause and excitement across the hall, inspiring players and youth with renewed motivation and enthusiasm.
On this prestigious occasion, BJP Chandigarh Pradesh President Jitender Pal Malhotra, Panjab University Vice Chancellor Renu Vig, former Pradesh President and Himachal Pradesh Co-Incharge Sanjay Tandon, and Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi were also present. In addition, State General Secretary Ramveer Bhatti, Sanjeev Rana, Sports Cell Convener Prabhjeet Lamba, Shakti Prakash Devshali, BJP Chandigarh Pradesh Media Incharge Ravi Rawat, along with several senior party leaders, players, coaches, and distinguished citizens attended the event. All dignitaries encouraged the participants and motivated them to contribute towards nation-building through sports.
A large number of children and players participated in the inauguration ceremony with immense enthusiasm, energy, and excitement. The discipline, confidence, and dedication of the youth towards sports became the major highlight of the event, making the occasion truly inspirational and memorable.
Addressing the gathering, MP Atul Garg said that sports not only strengthen physical fitness but also develop discipline, leadership qualities, confidence, and team spirit among youth. He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to promote sports culture across the nation, and today Indian athletes are making the country proud globally. He urged the youth to consider sports not merely as a competition, but as a pathway to success in life.
BJP Chandigarh Pradesh President Jitender Pal Malhotra said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has always remained committed to promoting youth talent. He added that the objective of “Khelo Chandigarh Games 2026” is to provide a positive direction to the youth, offer a platform to budding talent, and inspire them towards building a healthy and strong India while keeping them away from social evils like drug abuse.
Sports Cell Convener Prabhjeet Lamba informed that more than 2000 players and students are participating in various sports competitions under this mega event. He further stated that the games festival, which began on May 25, will continue till June 1, featuring exciting competitions in different sports disciplines. The event will provide a major platform for the youth of the city to showcase their talent, and winners will also be honored.
The march past carried out by players holding the ceremonial torch captivated the audience. The enthusiasm and energy of the youth remained the center of attraction throughout the event.
