Chandigarh, June 7 (WISHAVWARTA);- The scorching Punjab sun was no match for cricket passion on Sunday. Despite soaring temperatures, near about 10,000 fans packed the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in New Chandigarh on Day 2 of the one-off Test between India and Afghanistan.
This proving that New Chandigarh debut as India’s 31st Test venue has already captured the public’s imagination. The stands echoed with cheers as fans braved the heat to witness top-class cricket.
Adding ceremony to the contest, PCA Honorary Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer rang the traditional bell to kickstart the second day’s play.
In a heartwarming gesture off the field, Meet Hayer also felicitated Khyal Muhammad, an ardent Afghan cricket fan who travelled all the way from Afghanistan just to cheer for his team. Honouring him at the PCA office, Hayer said such passion is what makes cricket a bridge between nations.
