Monitoring of New GST Rates – Small Retailers Should Not Be Harassed – Kailash Jain
Chandigarh, September 13, 2025 (WISHAVWARTA):- Udyog Vyapar Mandal, Chandigarh (UVM) welcomes the decision to implement the revised GST rates from September 22. This step will directly benefit consumers and is expected to provide partial relief from inflation.
UVM President Kailash Chand Jain and General Secretary Naresh Kumar Goyal, reacting to the formation of monitoring teams by the administration, stated that the objective of these teams should be to ensure the correct implementation of GST rates and to pass on the benefit to consumers. However, small retailers must not be unnecessarily harassed in the process. Authorities should safeguard the interests of common shopkeepers.
They further said that small retailers will automatically charge the reduced GST on bills, thereby ensuring that the benefit directly reaches customers. Therefore, the administration should focus its monitoring efforts primarily on large supply chains and wholesale traders, where the actual pricing decisions are made.
The Udyog Vyapar Mandal believes that only fair and transparent action will help retain the confidence of both consumers and traders in the administration.
