Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-Led Government Committed to Welfare of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers

Chandigarh, August 19 (WISHAVWARTA):- The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has released a significant grant of Rs 68.95 crore for the payment of honorariums to Anganwadi workers and helpers across the state. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to the welfare of those who play a pivotal role in child development and community health.

Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development, announced the release of this grant, emphasizing that the welfare of Anganwadi workers and helpers remains a top priority for the Punjab Government. “While we are dedicated to addressing the needs of various segments of society, the welfare of Anganwadi workers and helpers is particularly close to our hearts. The Chief Minister has already announced the recruitment of 3,000 Anganwadi workers during a state-level function in Barnala on Rakhi, which will open new employment avenues and further empower women across the state,” Dr. Kaur stated.

The funds will cover the honorariums for the months from July 2024 to October 2024. The grant will be distributed across various districts as follows: Rs 4.81 crore to the District Program Officer, Amritsar, Rs 3.56 crore to Bathinda, Rs 1.65 crore to Barnala, Rs 1.80 crore to Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 1.40 crore to Faridkot, Rs 3.21 crore to Ferozepur, and Rs 2.74 crore to Fazilka. Similarly, Rs 5.14 crore to Gurdaspur, Rs 4.82 crore to Hoshiarpur, Rs 4.10 crore to Jalandhar, Rs 2.26 crore to Kapurthala, Rs 5.97 crore to Ludhiana, Rs 2.28 crore to Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs 2.47 crore to Moga, Rs 2.14 crore to Mansa, Rs 2.14 crore to Pathankot, Rs 4.69 crore to Patiala, Rs 2.22 crore to Rupnagar, Rs 1.63 crore to SAS Nagar, Rs 5.01 crore to Sangrur and Malerkotla, Rs 1.97 crore to SBS Nagar and Rs 2.86 crore to Tarn Taran.

The Minister emphasized that this financial support reflects the Punjab Government’s unwavering dedication to supporting Anganwadi workers and helpers, who play a vital role in the health and development of children and mothers across the state.

Dr. Baljit Kaur has directed district officials to ensure that data on the Poshan tracker is updated. This step is aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability within the system, ensuring that resources are being effectively utilized for the benefit of the community.
