Digital Media Association demands cashless medical facility, Rs.20000 monthly pension for retired journalists
CHANDIGARH, November 19 (WISHAVWARTA):- The Digital Media Association president Devinderjit Singh Darshi and members have demanded from Punjab Government to extend welfare facilities to the working journalists and their families on the pattern of Haryana government.
In a statement issued Association president Devinderjit Singh Darshi said that the journalists spend their life time working for the society and serve as fourth pillar of democracy at the risk of their lives. He aid that it was duty of the governments to look after the welfare of journalsit community.
The statement also signed by Baljit Balli, Satinder Bains, H.S.Bawa, Parminder Singh Jattpuri, Davinder Singh Kohli, Manavir Jain, Prashant Sharma and Sukhdev Singh Patwari appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to initiate steps to provide cashless medical facility to media persons and Rs.20,000 per month pension for retired journalists.
The statement said that Haryana government has already announced cashless medical facility for journalists and case of Rs.20,000 monthly pension is under consideration.
The Digital Media association also emphasized on better coordination between the field journalists and the state government.
The association also requested the Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains to invite Journalist bodies for talks on their long pending demands like subsidized housing facility, easy loans for vehicles and issuing accreditation and yellow cards to genuine journalists.
