MOVE AIMED AT PERPETUATING THE RICH LEGACY OF THE STATE TO THE COMING GENERATIONS

Sri Anandpur Sahib, November 23 (WISHAVWARTA):- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and National Convener of AAP Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday joined revered religious leaders across the globe to pay tributes to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji in a ‘Sarb Dharam Sammelan’ to mark 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Guru.

Addressing the gathering, the National Convener of AAP Arvind Kejriwal said that he was thankful to all the religious leaders who have converged here for paying glorious tributes to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur sahib. He said that there is hardly any parallel in entire history when a sacrifice was made for saving the religion of others adding that Guru ji was a firm proponent of religious freedom. Arvind Kejriwal said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that religious leaders from across the globe have joined the state government in paying tributes to the great Guru sahib.

The National Convener of AAP said that Guru ji had given the message of humanism and as a tribute to great Guru sahib the state government is organizing these events. He said that massive arrangements have been made by the state government to facilitate the devotees so that they can pay obeisance at the holy city in a smooth and hassle free manner. Arvind Kejriwal said that 142 villages across the state having the footprints of the great Guru ji have been given funds by the Punjab government for giving a facelift to it.

The National Convener of AAP said that every religion in the world teaches us the values of humanity, compassion, and peaceful coexistence. He said that the purpose of the Sarb Dharam Sammelan is to convey the message of Sarbat da Bhala the welfare of all a universal ideal blessed to us by our revered Sikh Gurus. Arvind Kejriwal said that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji had made unparalleled sacrifices for the protection of faith and righteousness.

The National Convener of AAP said that Guru sahib offered the supreme sacrifice to uphold the right of every person to practice their faith freely according to their conscience. He said that history is witness that many had sacrificed lives for their own faith, but Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji remains the only one who gave his life for the protection of another’s religion. Arvind Kejriwal exhorted the people to follow the footsteps of the great Sikh Guru for carving out a harmonious and progressive society.

Meanwhile, in his address, the Chief Minister said that the state government has always been committed to maintaining respect for all religions, ensuring peace, harmony, brotherhood, and unity in the state. He said that Punjab is the sacred land of great Gurus, saints, and martyrs, possesses a rich and glorious heritage adding that Punjabis have inherited the spirit of fighting against tyranny, injustice and oppression from the great Guru sahiban. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this has been the guiding spirit for the Punjabis to excel in every field and prove their mettle.

The Chief Minister said that the sacrifice made by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji was supreme and unprecedented as it was aimed at protecting the religion of others. He said that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib made the supreme sacrifice to protect the religious rights of humanity to set an example for the world. Bhagwant Singh Mann exhorted the people to follow the path of righteousness in the true tradition of humanity, as propagated by Guru Sahib.

The Chief Minister said that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji laid down his life in Delhi to protect human rights and religious freedom, a sacrifice unmatched in world history. He said that Ninth Sikh Guru was a true symbol of secularism, unity, and universal brotherhood, adding that Guru Sahib’s life and philosophy continue to serve as a beacon of light for all humanity. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is already organizing a series of events to commemorate 350th martyrdom day of the ninth Sikh Guru.

The Chief Minister said that these functions will continue in coming time too and will be held across the state in the coming years too adding that every year events will be organized to mark the martyrdom day. He said that the sole motive is to perpetuate the glorious legacy of great Guru sahib amongst our coming generations. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has made elaborate arrangements for facilitating the devotees coming to the holy city for paying reverence.

The Chief Minister said that apart from tent city, massive parkings and others, around 700 electric rickshaws, 20 mini buses and others have been pumped for free service of devotees. Likewise, he said that massive arrangements have been made to ensure that the devotees coming to Sri Anandpur Sahib pay smooth and hassle free obeisance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has initiated Nagar Kirtan from Srinagar which came to Sri Anandpur Sahib after passing through districts of Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and others.

The Chief Minister said that the state government will make necessary changes in the syllabus to keep youngsters abreast about our rich cultural heritage. He said that necessary changes will be made in the education curriculum to acquaint the coming generations about the immense contribution of Guru Sahib and legendary martyrs like Bhai Sati Dass, Bhai Mati Dass, Bhai Dyala ji, Baba Jiwan Ji (Bhai Jaita ji), Bhai Kirpa Singh (Pandit Kirpa Ram). Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this is a rich legacy of the state and its people adding that it is the bounden duty of the state government to preserve it.
