Children Explore the Art of Storytelling through Illustrations at Chandigarh Press Club Workshop

Chandigarh, 8 June (WISHAVWARTA):-Over 60 children gathered at the Chandigarh Press Club on Sunday for a one-day Book Illustration Workshop, diving into the colourful world of storytelling through art. The session was conducted by renowned cartoonist and children’s book illustrator Subhasis Neogi, who has spent over three decades working across various creative mediums including theatre, puppetry, animation, and book illustration.
The workshop offered young participants a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of visual storytelling. Neogi, known for his engaging teaching style, guided the children through the finer aspects of book illustration — from crafting compelling characters to visualizing narrative flow across the pages.
An interactive exercise formed the highlight of the workshop, where participants were encouraged to create their own illustrated books. They designed every element — from the front cover to the back page — while learning how each illustration could carry and complement the storyline.
Children not only discovered the technical aspects of illustration but also explored the joy of translating ideas into visuals, giving life to their imaginations on paper. The workshop concluded with an informal display of the participants’ creative outputs, leaving both children and parents inspired by the possibilities of storytelling through pictures.
