Bathinda/Chandigarh, May 21 ( WISHAVWARTA )-Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday campaigned for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Gurmeet Singh Khuddian from Bathinda. Mann addressed a huge public meeting in Bathinda and appealed to the people to defeat Akali Dal’s Harsimrat Kaur Badal and make Gurmeet Khuddian victor.
During his speech, Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann recited Sant Ram Udaasi’s poem ‘Maghda Rahi Ve Surja Kammiyaan De Vehde’ and said that we are people who believe in Sant Ram Udaasi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. He said that after taking oath as Chief Minister, the first thing I did was to put the photos of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Ambedkar in government offices instead of leaders, because Bhagat Singh sacrificed his life for freedom to the country and Ambedkar ensured freedom for everyone by writing the Constitution of the country.
Mann said that Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar used to say that the poverty of the country cannot be removed by green card, blue card, red card and yellow card. Poverty can be eradicated only through education. That is why Baba Saheb laid great emphasis on education.
He said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is fulfilling the unfulfilled dreams of Baba Saheb. The AAP government is building world class schools for the good education of poor children in Delhi and Punjab and is improving the quality of education. The title of the Bathinda rally was also the same, ‘Baba Saheb Tera Sapna Adhura, Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann karenge poora’.
He said that I want to remove the constraints of compulsion from the lives of the common people. They should have a choice and will just like everyone. Today, it is your compulsion to educate your children in private schools and get treatment in private hospitals. You do not trust government schools and hospitals right now because there is no good facility and system there. That is why I want to make government schools and hospitals so better that choosing private schools and hospitals will be the will of the common people, not a compulsion.
On Dalit students, he said that the ministers of the previous government embezzled the scholarship money of Dalit students, due to which the Center stopped giving scholarship money. Now we have given strict orders that the degree of any Dalit student should not be affected due to scholarship money, their year should not get wasted.
He also gave clarification on the door-to-door ration scheme of the Punjab government and said that we have not reduced the ration, earlier they used to give 15 kg ration after 3 months, whereas now we are giving 5 kg ration every month. Along with this, Mann said that someone has spread a rumor that only flour will be available from the government. This is not true, it is a baseless rumour. People get both options. They can take flour or wheat, whichever they want. Bhagwant Mann also said that the wheat that people will get will be of top quality only.
During the speech, Mann attacked Shiromani Akali Dal Badal and Badal family. He said that this time Badal family will be wiped out from Bathinda as well. He said that now AAP candidate Gurmeet Khudian will pull out the last nail of Badal family in Bathinda.
Mann said that the Badal family looted Punjab like the British and Mughals. The British and Mughals came to loot the country only, so it is not that disheartening, but the Badal family looted Punjab in the name of service and religion, so people of Punjab will never forgive them. Mann said that in this election, Badal family is going to finish in Punjab’s politics for good. Now they will only be found in the pages of history.
Mann also attacked Sukhpal Khaira and Congress. He said that Khaira talks a lot about Punjab and Punjabi, but I can say with confidence that he cannot pass the Punjabi language exam. He will not even get 20% marks. He said that a lot of youth who have got opportunities in government jobs in Punjab have passed the Punjabi language exam with 50% marks.
Attacking the Congress party, he said that the friendship between Congress leaders is like that of a turtle and a mouse. All of them are trying to get each other killed.
Addressing the rally, candidate Gurmeet Singh Khuddian appealed to the people to teach a lesson to those who looted Punjab on the day of voting June 1st. He said that Bibi Harsimrat Kaur Badal has been a parliamentarian thrice. Despite this, she never shared the happiness and sorrows of the common people. Bibi Badal comes only to seek votes during the voting season. He said that Bibi Badal has betrayed Punjab and the farmers of Punjab by supporting the 3 black farm laws.
