BREAKING NEWS: VB recovers Rs 1,90,000 unaccounted money from Inspector Cooperative Societies nabbed red handed taking Rs 15,000 bribe
Chandigarh, Aug 8, 2024 (WISHAVWARTA):- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), had recovered unaccounted money amounting to Rs 1,90,000 from the Cooperative Inspector of Societies, Gurinder Singh, posted at Bhura Kohna Multipurpose Cooperative Society, who was arrested yesterday for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused was produced in the competent court today and remanded for two days police custody to the VB for further investigation. He added that during personal search of the said accused Rs 1,90,000 was recovered by the VB team but he could not justify the source of the said money.
Mentionably, the said Inspector had demanded Rs 1.5 lakhs from complainant Varinder Singh of Tarn Taran for restoring the above said Cooperative Society which was dissolved due to allegations of misappropriation of government funds. Besides this, the accused had demanded Rs 15,000 on the pretext of meeting with Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies at Jalandhar in this regard. The VB team has nabbed him red handed on the spot while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station Amritsar. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he added.
