Jalalabad, March 24 (WISHAVWARTA): The long-pending demand for the construction of a bypass in Jalalabad, which even senior leaders of previous governments could not fulfill, has now been successfully addressed by Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy, an MLA from an ordinary family who secured his position for the first time. Today, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has announced a significant infrastructural gift for the Jalalabad constituency. The bypass road in Jalalabad will be named after the great martyr Shaheed Udham Singh.
During the ongoing session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy raised a question regarding the construction of the Jalalabad Bypass on the Fazilka-Ferozepur road. In response, Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO informed the House that the bypass would be constructed, starting from Bagge Ke Utaar and running along the canal up to Ameer Khas. The bypass will be 8.75 kilometers long and 18 feet wide. The government has already granted administrative approval of ₹13.28 crore for this project.
MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy stated that the demand for this road had been pending for a long time, but previous governments and senior leaders only sought votes from the region without addressing essential developmental issues. He further added that this road would be named after the great martyr Shaheed Udham Singh. The construction of this road will provide a permanent solution to Jalalabad’s traffic problems and also reduce travel time for people commuting between Fazilka and Ferozepur.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Public Works Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO for approving the project, MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy also proposed that a statue of Shaheed Udham Singh be installed along this new road. The Public Works Minister immediately approved this request.
MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy further emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government is making remarkable efforts to enhance the region’s basic infrastructure. He assured that the construction of this road would fulfill the long-standing demand of the people and pave the way for the overall development of the area.
