Akali Dal is finished in Punjab and BJP, promoter of politics of hatred, has no chance in Punjab: CM Mann
Chandigarh, May 21 (WISHAVWARTA )-The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab dealt a big blow to Shiromani Akali Dal in Bathinda and a massive setback to Bharatiya Janata Party in Ferozepur. On Tuesday, former BJP MLA Sukhpal Singh Nannu joined the AAP and gave the party a boost in Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency. Former Akali Dal MLA Darshan Singh Kotfatta left the SAD (Badal) and also joined the AAP, giving the ruling party of Punjab more strength ahead of LS polls.
Sukhpal Singh Nannu, two time MLA of BJP (in 2002 and 2007), had left the BJP during the farmers protest in 2021. At that time he had said that the BJP’s farm laws are anti-farmers and Narendra Modi government has greatly let down the farmers and common people of the country. After joining the AAP, Sukhpal Singh Nannu said that the Mann government is pro-farmers government. He said that the AAP government is constantly working to uplift the agriculture sector, farmers are getting canal water and sufficient electricity in day time. He said that the farmers of the border area are being given attention for the first time too and their problems are being addressed.
Darshan Singh Kotfatta, retired government servant, has been Akali Dal MLA from Bathinda rural in 2012. He also contested the Punjab Assembly elections in 2022 from the Bhucho Mandi (SC) constituency. Kotfatta left Shiromani Akali Dal to join the AAP. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann officially inducted both the leaders to the AAP clan and said that every pro-Punjab voice is welcomed in the Aam Aadmi Party.
In his statement, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the SAD (Badal) is finished in Punjab. The people have completely lost their faith in Akali Dal as it is now only Badal Dal full of corrupt and selfish people. Attacking the BJP, Mann said that BJP does the politics of hatred and polarisation. They have no chance in Punjab, Punjabis are known for their brotherhood, we will never tolerate any kind of hate against anyone. Mann said that the AAP does the politics of work, we are asking for votes in the name of our work of two years. More and more people are joining the AAP everyday. He said that every pro-Punjab voice is welcomed in AAP.
