District Administration Intensifies Action Against Illegal Mining in Mohali
SAS Nagar, October 25 (WISHAVWARTA):- Acting on the directions issued by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the District Administration SAS Nagar has intensified its crackdown on illegal mining activities to ensure strict enforcement of mining regulations and protection of the state’s natural resources.
Last night, the Mining Department conducted a special drive across various locations in Sub-Division Mohali, setting up checkpoints to inspect tipper trucks and verify transportation permits. During these operations, several vehicles were stopped, and their documents were thoroughly checked to ensure compliance with legal norms.
Providing details about the operation, SDO Mining Shubham Goel informed that the drive was conducted under the supervision of District Mining Officer Khushwinder Singh and Superintending Engineer Rajinder Ghai, in accordance with the government’s zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining.
He further appealed to all individuals and vehicle owners engaged in the transportation of minor minerals to refrain from illegal mining and transportation and to obtain the requisite official permits only through the Mining Department after depositing the due royalty to the state exchequer. The funds collected through this legitimate process, he added, are utilized by the Punjab Government for the overall development and welfare of the people.
Reaffirming the administration’s resolve, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal stated that surprise inspections will continue in the coming days, and any person found violating mining rules or indulging in illegal activities will face strict legal action as per the provisions of law.
The District Administration SAS Nagar reiterated its full commitment to implement the Punjab Government’s directive to completely curb illegal mining, ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainable use of natural resources in the district.
