-Punjab Government Aligns PCS Preliminary Exam Pattern with UPSC
Patiala, December 20 (WISHAVWARTA):- The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has announced that the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) paper will now be treated solely as a qualifying paper in the preliminary examination for the Punjab Civil Service (PCS) (Executive Branch). This decision comes following the Punjab government’s approval of a recommendation made by the PPSC.
Sharing this information, PPSC Chairman Jatinder Singh Aulakh stated that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has accepted the Commission’s proposal to align the PCS preliminary examination pattern with that of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
Speaking at the Commission’s office today, Aulakh explained that the merit for the PCS preliminary examination will now be determined solely on the basis of the General Studies paper. He added that the CSAT paper will serve only as a qualifying paper, requiring candidates to secure a minimum qualifying score.
Highlighting another key update, the Chairman emphasized that PPSC will place special focus on topics related to Punjab’s history, geography, culture, and economy in the General Studies Paper-1 of the PCS Main Examination.
Aulakh expressed confidence that this decision will provide significant relief to aspiring candidates, particularly those from rural and underprivileged backgrounds, enabling them to compete on a more equitable platform in this high-level competitive examination.
PPSC Secretary Charanjit Singh and Secretary (Examinations) Vyom Bhardwaj were also present.
