Aam Aadmi Party expresses condolences over the murder of a worker in Talwandi Mohar Singh
Chandigarh, October 7(wishavwarta) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed deep sorrow over the murder of its worker Rajvinder Singh, who was shot dead in the village of Talwandi Mohar Singh in the Patti constituency. The AAP said that opposition parties, the Akali Dal and Congress, are responsible for this incident.
On Monday, senior AAP leader and MP Malvinder Singh Kang, along with party leaders Jagat Singh Sanghera and Neel Garg, held a press conference at the AAP office in Chandigarh regarding this matter. The three leaders observed two minutes of silence in memory of Rajvinder Singh and expressed their condolences.
While addressing the media, MP Malvinder Kang stated that during this difficult and tragic time, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Punjab government stand with Rajvinder Singh’s family. The government will provide every possible assistance to bring justice to the victim’s family and will take strict action against the guilty.
He mentioned that to prevent such unfortunate incidents, the Mann government had decided that elections would not be based on party affiliation. The sarpanch should be from the village, not from the party, to prevent party-based animosities in villages. There have been successes in many areas where people have agreed to elect an ordinary person as sarpanch, rising above factionalism. However, such incidents are extremely sad and unfortunate. Just two days ago, an AAP worker was also seriously injured by gunfire in Jalalabad and is currently fighting for his life in a hospital in Ludhiana.
Kang blamed the Akali and Congress parties for the incident, stating that such actions are characteristic of these parties. They have previously committed violence on a large scale during panchayat elections, turning Punjab’s youth into criminals by providing them weapons and fostering gang culture. Today, they are shedding crocodile tears, while simultaneously firing at our workers and blaming us.
Kang further stated that these parties have never allowed municipal and sarpanch elections to be conducted democratically and peacefully. Meanwhile, the AAP government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is continually striving to conduct peaceful, fair, and free elections. He expressed surprise at how the leaders responsible for such hooliganism are approaching the Election Commission and holding press conferences. Kang’s remarks were directed towards Punjab Congress president Raja Warring and Akali leader Bikram Majithia.
