CHANDIGARH; 25th September 2026 (WISHAVWARTA):- Punjab is fast emerging as a major industrial hub and preferred investment destination, with the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government attracting a massive ₹1.89 lakh crore in investments over the last four years, generating employment potential for 6.31 lakh youth and driving industrial growth beyond traditional centres. With Mohali leading new investment proposals at ₹9,478 crore, followed by Ludhiana at ₹4,968 crore, the expanding investment footprint reflects growing investor confidence while opening new avenues for jobs, entrepreneurship and higher incomes across Punjab.
Reviewing the progress of the Industries Department here today, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The remarkable scale of investment reflects the growing confidence of domestic and global investors in Punjab’s industrial ecosystem. Our government has consistently worked to create a congenial, transparent and investor-friendly business environment, backed by improved infrastructure, responsive governance and streamlined approvals.”
The Chief Minister said, “Punjab’s traditional strengths in agriculture, manufacturing, engineering, textiles and food processing, coupled with our emerging capabilities in technology, renewable energy, automobiles and modern manufacturing, are providing a strong foundation for the next phase of industrial growth.”
He pointed out, “Several leading national and international companies, including Tata Steel, JSW Steel, AICHI Steels, Vardhman, Nestlé, Hindustan Lever, Cargill, De Heus, HMEL, Santhan Textiles and Freudenberg, among others, have invested or expanded their presence in Punjab.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “SAS Nagar (Mohali) is rapidly transforming into one of Punjab’s principal economic and industrial growth engines and has emerged as the leading district in new investment proposals received through Common Application Forms (CAFs) during the financial years 2022-23 to 2026-27. Mohali received investment proposals worth ₹9,478 crore, followed by Ludhiana with ₹4,968 crore, Patiala with ₹2,590 crore and Hoshiarpur with ₹2,003 crore.”
The Chief Minister said, “Several other districts are also making a significant contribution to Punjab’s industrial growth story. Fatehgarh Sahib attracted proposals worth ₹1,265 crore, Bathinda ₹1,248 crore, Kapurthala ₹1,037 crore and Jalandhar ₹1,003 crore.”
He said, “The geographical spread of investment demonstrates that industrial development is no longer confined to a few traditional industrial centres. New investment is creating opportunities across different regions of Punjab and strengthening the foundations of balanced economic development.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Mohali and Ludhiana alone accounted for 49.8 per cent of the total investments routed through CAFs during the period, underlining the growing importance of these two cities as major economic centres of Punjab. Mohali’s IT, technology and innovation ecosystem is expanding rapidly. The city is steadily developing into a major technology destination and has the potential to emerge as the ‘Silicon Valley of India’.”
The Chief Minister said, “Our government is committed to providing the required ecosystem for technology companies, start-ups, knowledge-based industries and innovative enterprises so that Punjab’s educated and skilled youth can find quality employment opportunities within the state.”
He said, “Punjab’s emerging industrial landscape is also becoming increasingly diversified. Investment proposals received through CAFs cover several high-growth sectors, including real estate, housing and infrastructure, alloy steel and metal manufacturing, agri and food processing, bio-energy and renewable resources, automobile components, textiles and apparel, among others.”
“Diversification of the industrial base will strengthen Punjab’s economy, reduce dependence on traditional sectors and create a wider range of employment opportunities for our young people,” he added.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Specialised industrial clusters are being promoted in key industrial hubs of the state to provide focused support to MSMEs and allied enterprises. SAS Nagar (Mohali) has been approved for a Hi-Tech Metal Cluster, providing a focused ecosystem for enterprises operating in advanced metal manufacturing and allied sectors. Ludhiana has been approved for specialised clusters relating to Oil Expeller and Parts Manufacturing, Garments and Honey Processing, while Patiala has been selected for a dedicated Cutting Tool Cluster.”
The Chief Minister stated, “These clusters will enable enterprises to benefit from common infrastructure, modern technology, skill development, economies of scale and better market linkages. Strengthening MSMEs is crucial because these enterprises play a major role in generating employment, nurturing entrepreneurship and supporting large industries through robust local supply chains.”
He said, “Industrial growth cannot be sustained without modern and reliable infrastructure. To accelerate this process, two major Industrial Park projects in Punjab have also been approved.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These initiatives will provide modern industrial infrastructure and create a stronger ecosystem for new enterprises, expansion of existing industries and attraction of further investment. Our government is simultaneously working to improve connectivity, industrial infrastructure, ease of doing business and administrative support so that investors can establish and expand their units in Punjab without unnecessary procedural hurdles.”
The Chief Minister stated, “Our industrial policy is not merely about attracting investment figures. The real objective is to translate investment into jobs, entrepreneurship, higher incomes and better opportunities for Punjab’s youth.”
He said, “The investment of ₹1.89 lakh crore and employment potential of around 6.31 lakh youth are significant indicators of the transformation underway in Punjab’s industrial sector.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Punjab has the talent, entrepreneurial spirit, skilled workforce, strategic location and industrial base required to become a leading investment destination. The task before our government is to provide an ecosystem in which these inherent strengths can be converted into sustainable economic growth. The state government will continue to work with industry as a facilitator and partner, ensuring faster approvals, better infrastructure, policy support and responsive administration.”
The Chief Minister said, “Punjab is ready to welcome new investment and new ideas. We will leave no stone unturned to make the state a preferred destination for both domestic and global investors.”
He said, “Our vision is clear: more investment, more industries, more employment and more opportunities for the people of Punjab. With a growing pipeline of investments, expanding industrial clusters, major infrastructure projects and a rapidly developing technology ecosystem, Punjab is steadily strengthening its position as a major industrial and economic hub of the country.”
