Chandigarh, August 15 (WISHAVWARTA);- Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the Punjab office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. On the occasion, BJP Punjab State President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon hoisted the Tricolour. This was followed by the collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ and the National Anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana’, by those present.
Addressing the gathering, State President Kewal Singh Dhillon extended his warm wishes to all citizens and the people of Punjab on Independence Day. He said that this is a day to pay tribute to the sacrifices of our great martyrs. He said that Punjabis have been at the forefront of India’s freedom struggle and that we take immense pride in being the inheritors of this great land.
He said that today, we must ask ourselves whether the Punjab of today is the Punjab envisioned by our martyrs. “The answer is clear—Punjab today needs a ‘Second Freedom’,” he said.
He said Punjab first and foremost needs freedom from drugs. The drug menace has destroyed the future of our youth, and eliminating this evil from its roots must be our foremost objective.
Sardar Dhillon said Punjab must also be freed from unemployment and migration. New opportunities for industry, trade and employment must be created within Punjab so that talented young people are not forced to leave their homes and go abroad in search of jobs.
He said the people of Punjab also need freedom from fear and crime. Ensuring the rule of law in Punjab, where every farmer, trader and family feels completely safe, will be a key priority of the BJP.
Praising the message delivered by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from the ramparts of the Red Fort on India’s progress and future, Sardar Dhillon said the Prime Minister’s resolve to make India a developed nation by 2047 is a source of inspiration for every Indian.

Sardar Dhillon said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving forward today with renewed strength, confidence and direction. The goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ is not merely a government slogan but a resolve to take every citizen of the country forward together.
He said it is the BJP’s resolve to connect Punjab with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and restore the state’s prosperity and security, while bringing Punjab among the country’s leading states.
