More Than 90% Households Are Getting Free Power and Over 68,000 Youth Have Got Govt Jobs Without Bribery or Recommendation: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

PATIALA, 26th June 2026 (WISHAVWARTA);- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday affirmed those who shielded the perpetrators of the Beadbi (sacrilege) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji for 15 years can never be forgiven by the Sangat and asserted that those responsible for the heinous crime would soon be behind bars. During a Lok Milni among people of village Gajewas in the Samana Assembly segment of Patiala district, the Chief Minister said the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 would ensure strict punishment for anyone committing beadbi.

He also highlighted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government’s people-centric governance, saying public money is being spent on development, schools, hospitals and roads, while more than 90% of households are receiving free electricity and over 68,000 youth have secured government jobs without bribery or recommendation.

Sharing a few snippets on his X, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated: “Today, I interacted with people during a Lok Milni at village Gajewas in the Samana Assembly constituency. I received an overwhelming response and immense love from the people. Handed over a grant cheque of ₹51 lakh to the village Sarpanch for the development of Gajewas. Ensuring financial security for women, free healthcare, and better facilities in every village remains our top priority.”

“Our sole aim is to ensure that every household has access to better facilities and to make Punjab the No. 1 state in every field. With the blessings and support of the people, we are moving ahead together to build a vibrant Rangla Punjab once again. Inquilab Zindabad,” the post concluded.

Addressing the Lok Milni, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said these sinners can never be forgiven for their treachery against the Sikh Panth and Gurus. “The maximum beadbi incidents took place during the regime of the Badals, but no one was punished for them. Instead of acting against the perpetrators, firing was ordered against the innocent Sikh Sangat. Captain Amarinder Singh, who succeeded the Badals, also did nothing to assuage the sentiments of the Sikh Sangat by punishing the culprits behind this heinous crime,” he said.

He said that, as a matter of fact, these people were hand in glove with the anti-social elements who had committed the unpardonable crime against humanity. “This is why these people and their stooges are now opposing the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026 because they know that they will be nailed for their sins. These leaders will have to pay for their sins and they will soon be behind bars,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister said Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal should stop daydreaming about their turn for power as it is their turn to go to jail for their crimes against the Sikh community. “I am grateful to the Almighty for bestowing me the opportunity to enact the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. Whenever incidents of beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji took place, the psyche of millions of people was deeply hurt,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated the Almighty had blessed him with the wisdom and strength to bring this Bill after detailed consultation with legal experts. “Our government has drafted this Bill carefully so that no future amendments or loopholes will weaken it. This Bill will act as a deterrent for anti-social elements to indulge in any such sin in future and no one will ever be able to indulge in this heinous crime. Earlier, people escaped the gallows by saying that ‘their mind is disturbed’ or ‘he is mentally ill’, and the accused would walk free,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

However, the Chief Minister questioned, “If someone is truly mentally unstable, then why does he only target Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji? Why does he not crash into a train engine or touch live electric wires? The truth is that such acts were often deliberate and orchestrated. Therefore, we have added a clause in the law that even if someone is medically declared mentally unstable, then their custodians, parents, guardians or caretakers will also face criminal charges.”

Lashing out at the Akalis, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said they were never sincere about making such a law when they were in power. “The truth is that their intentions were flawed. The Akalis allowed Beadbi incidents to take place for their political gains,” he added.

The Chief Minister said the Akali Dal had now been reduced to the party of sisters-in-law, as one sister-in-law is an MP and the other is an MLA. “Sukhbir Badal is still in trauma due to the debacle in the year 2022. The former Deputy Chief Minister says that he has directed all his MLAs not to attend the Vidhan Sabha, forgetting that there is only one MLA left of the SAD, who is also his relative,” he said.

“The Akalis, Congress and BJP know that they cannot compete with me politically, so they have ganged up to defame me on religious grounds through fake videos,” said Bhagwant Singh Mann.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the Akali leaders mercilessly looted the state and committed numerous and unpardonable atrocities against the common man during their long and tyrannical rule. “They bruised the psyche of Punjabis emotionally and patronised several mafias in the state to ruin Punjab. The Akali leadership can never be forgiven because it was responsible for the genocide of several generations of the state as the drug trade was patronised by them and bloomed during their long era of misrule,” he said.

Taking a jibe at Sukhbir Badal, the Chief Minister said the Akali leaders had lost their base among the masses and were using paid workers to show crowds at their rallies. “In every rally of the Akalis, the same crowd is there,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the traditional political parties continuously try to defame him through one accusation or another. “Now the SGPC (Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee) has ordered to put up posters outside gurdwaras calling for my boycott. However, why were such posters not put up against the Akali Dal or Sukhbir Badal when they admitted responsibility for incidents of Beadbi?”

“On December 2, before Sri Akal Takht Sahib, they acknowledged their mistakes, admitted wrongdoing, accepted responsibility for the firing incidents, and admitted that orders were given against the Sangat. Did anyone put up posters outside gurdwaras calling for their boycott?” asked CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister said the Sangat is wise and people are supreme. “These individuals are acting out of arrogance because they have no real issue left to raise against me. When I visit villages, community gatherings and public meetings, huge crowds gather. The opposition cannot tolerate these crowds because they themselves cannot attract such public support. Baffled over this, the traditional parties are stooping too low by levelling baseless allegations against me, which will not be tolerated by the people,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the Congress party is on its deathbed and will be finished very soon as it has no vision for the people and the state. “Their only aim is to plunder the wealth of Punjab by assuming power, but their dreams will never be fulfilled,” he said.

Taking a jibe at Congress leaders daydreaming about assuming power in the state, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Congress party is a divided house that will collapse because of its infighting. “It is a pity that the top Congress leaders who come to unite these leaders squabbling for power are not even aware of how to pronounce their names,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the state government is optimally utilising every single penny of the state exchequer for the welfare of the people. “More than 90% of households in the state are getting free power. Even the farmers are today getting power during the daytime, which has been unprecedented. The tax money of the people belongs to the state, and we are judiciously spending it on the welfare of the people. People’s money is coming back to the people through development, schools, hospitals and roads,” said Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister said the AAP government is now working for the people and has provided free electricity to households, jobs to more than 68,000 youth without corruption, improved roads, closed toll plazas saving ₹70 lakh daily, imparted quality education and healthcare, built infrastructure, besides several other key initiatives. “At the time when the state government assumed charge of office, only 22% canal water was being used in the state for irrigation purposes. Today, it has risen to more than 80%. The state government is working tirelessly for the development of villages, for which grants are being given,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that, in order to provide comprehensive healthcare to the people, the state government has launched the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, the first-of-its-kind scheme in the country that provides cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh for every resident family in Punjab. “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Punjab is the first Indian state to offer such comprehensive healthcare coverage, which has significantly eased the financial burden on the public while ensuring quality health services. This historic move is aimed at providing universal healthcare to all the families of the state. People have availed free treatment worth more than ₹650 crore so far,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister further said that under the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, from July 1, women beneficiaries above the age of 18 years will get notifications on their mobile phones about the financial assistance worth ₹1,000 in the case of every woman in Punjab and ₹1,500 in the case of SC women. “The funds will be directly transferred to their bank accounts, and women already receiving social security pensions will also be eligible. Nearly 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit from the scheme, and the state government has allotted ₹9,300 crore in the Budget,” said CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
