Bapu Dham gets green boost: Mayor Saurabh Joshi lays foundation for 7.5-acre green belt
Major Step Towards Better Lifestyle and Recreational Spaces for Residents

Chandigarh, March 30 (WISHAVWARTA):- In a significant push towards enhancing urban greenery and improving quality of life, Chandigarh Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi today laid the foundation stone for the development of a new green belt in Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26. The ceremony was held in the presence of Area Councillor Sh. Dalip Sharma, and residents of the colony, marking another milestone in the city’s commitment to expanding green and recreational spaces.
Spread across an area of approximately 7.5 acres, the upcoming green belt is envisioned as a vibrant and inclusive public space designed to cater to people of all age groups. The project will feature lush grass-covered areas, plantation of ornamental trees and decorative shrubs, and well-planned landscaping to create a serene and refreshing environment.
To ensure comfort and accessibility, the green belt will include modern amenities such as walking tracks, garden lighting, protective railings, and toilet blocks. Adding to its appeal, the space will also house a gazebo with seating benches, a water body, a volleyball court, an open-air gym, and dedicated children’s play equipment, making it a complete recreational hub for families and youth alike.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Saurabh Joshi emphasized that the project reflects the administration’s vision of creating healthier and greener neighborhoods. He stated that such initiatives not only beautify the city but also promote community engagement, physical well-being, and environmental sustainability.
With this initiative, Bapu Dham Colony is set to witness a transformation into a lively and eco-friendly space, further strengthening Chandigarh’s identity as a city that prioritizes green development and citizen-centric infrastructure.
