MOHALI, 12th March 2026 (WISHAVWARTA):- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 818 youth across different departments under the ongoing Mission Rozgar initiative, taking the total number of government jobs provided by the Punjab Government to 65,264 in the last four years.

Addressing a gathering at a function organised to distribute appointment letters, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann described the milestone as a reflection of the government’s commitment to ensuring transparent and merit-based employment opportunities for the youth of Punjab. “Today appointment letters are being handed over to 818 youth in different departments,” he stated, noting that the recruits include 459 in the Power Department, 215 in the Local Government Department, 129 in the Department of Health and Family Welfare and 15 Professors and Assistant Professors in the Department of Medical Education and Research. He emphasised that the Punjab Government has so far provided 65,264 government jobs to youth across Punjab.

Highlighting the government’s continued focus on employment generation, the Chief Minister said that recruitment of another 1,750 candidates in the Power Department is currently underway and will be completed by June 2026. “All these jobs have been given purely on the basis of merit, transparency and without any recommendation,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that several candidates have even secured government jobs multiple times in different departments due to the fairness of the recruitment process.

Reflecting on the situation before 2022, the Chief Minister observed that for more than a decade the youth of Punjab were denied government jobs by successive governments. “It is unfortunate that for almost more than a decade the youth of Punjab were not given government jobs by the successive governments. These sinners had destroyed the future of our generations due to which they don’t deserve any sort of mercy,” he stated, adding that since assuming office the Punjab Government launched Mission Rozgar to ensure employment for the youth.

The Chief Minister noted that the Punjab Government has ensured employment opportunities for youth in every village, town and city of Punjab. He exhorted the newly appointed youth to discharge their duties with honesty, dedication and commitment. “From today onwards these youth are a part of the government family and together we will leave no stone unturned in making Punjab vibrant and prosperous again ‘Rangla Punjab’,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Sharing words of encouragement with the new recruits, the Chief Minister said that success has many stories but failure has none and that hard work, commitment and perseverance are the keys to success for every individual. “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that every day one or the other exam for government jobs is being conducted in Punjab, opening new vistas of employment for youth,” noted CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that every government officer and official plays a vital role in the progress of Punjab.

The Chief Minister emphasised that providing jobs to the youth is not a favour but their rightful opportunity based on their talent and capability. “These youth have got jobs completely on the basis of merit,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, urging them to become integral members of the government system and serve the people with missionary zeal.

Calling upon the recruits to work for the welfare of society, the Chief Minister expressed hope that they would use their positions to assist the needy and underprivileged sections. “The newly recruited youth should ensure maximum welfare of the public so that every section of society benefits from it,” affirmed CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, reiterating that the recruitment process was carried out through complete transparency and rigorous competition.

The Chief Minister further stated that the Punjab Government is utilising every single penny of the state exchequer for the welfare of the people. He pointed out that more than 90% households in Punjab are receiving free electricity and farmers are now getting power during daytime, which he described as unprecedented. “At a time when the assets of the country are being handed over by the Union Government to their blue-eyed friends at throwaway prices, the Punjab Government has created history by buying a private thermal plant,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the Punjab Government’s welfare initiatives for women. He said that under the Mukh Mantri Mavaan Dhian Satkar scheme, women above 18 years of age from the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women from the Scheduled Caste category will receive ₹1,500 per month as financial assistance. “For ordinary people, especially the poor, ₹1,000-1,500 is a significant amount,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, describing the assistance as a mark of respect for mothers and daughters.

The Chief Minister remarked that those mocking the scheme or raising baseless questions fail to understand the value of ₹1,000 for ordinary citizens. “Those who spend more than ₹5,000 on a single meal from illegally earned money cannot understand the value of ₹1,000 which is a big financial assistance for people who have to work even on festivals,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that such affluent leaders and their families cannot appreciate the importance of this support for common households.

Referring to the venue of the event, the Chief Minister noted that while it is called Vikas Bhawan, it could well be renamed ‘Appointment Letter Bhawan’ given the large number of jobs being distributed. “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that government jobs have been provided to more than 65,000 youth purely on merit,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that in a positive sign for Punjab, reverse migration is now being witnessed with youth returning from abroad to join government jobs in Punjab.

The Chief Minister also remarked that traditional parties are uncomfortable with the people-centric governance model introduced by the Punjab Government. “These parties used to play musical chairs in power and waited for their turn to plunder the people and the country,” stated CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, adding that this politics was halted when the people of Punjab gave a massive mandate to the present government, enabling it to implement a series of pro-people initiatives.

*Newly Recruited Youth Share Stories of Hope, Merit-Based Selection under AAP Govt, Express Gratitude After Securing Govt Jobs*

Meanwhile, several newly recruited candidates expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing jobs through a transparent process. Jagjeet Singh from Nabha said that he had lost hope of securing a government job due to the lackadaisical approach of previous governments but regained hope after the AAP formed the government. Tajinder Singh from Ferozepur shared that when he received a call regarding the job, his family feared they would have to pay a bribe but he secured the job without spending a single penny.

Gurpreet Kaur from Malerkotla, currently working in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, said that she has now secured a second government job as a Cooperative Inspector purely on merit. Similarly, Dinesh Batra from Jalandhar said that he obtained his second job as AJS Mechanical in PSPCL through a transparent process.

Ishan Chaudhary from Talwara said that he represents the third generation of his family to serve in PSPCL. Sukhmanpreet Singh from Patiala shared that he returned from Canada one month after the Aam Aadmi Party formed the government and has now secured his second job in PSPCL.

Dr Navjot Singh Mann from Sri Muktsar Sahib revealed that dental doctors have received government jobs after a gap of 36 years, as the last batch of dental doctors had been recruited in 1990. The candidates thanked the Chief Minister for providing government jobs purely on the basis of merit and transparency.
