Fazilka, 29 May (WISHAVWARTA )-Regarding the Lok Sabha elections to be held on June 1, District Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Dr. Senu Dagal and SSP Dr. Pragya Jain have addressed the media personnel and said that all the preparations related to the elections in the district have been completed.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this time 829 polling booths have been established for 763623 voters in the district. She said that 20 models, 8 pink, 8 green, 4 PWD and 4 youth booths are being established in the district. She said that this time voter slip has been distributed to all the voters and invitation letter and voter guide has been sent to every house hold. Meanwhile, while all kinds of basic facilities are being ensured at the polling booths, for the welfare of the polling staff and also for the voters in danger of heat wave, tents, chabeel etc. are being arranged at the booths.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the SOPs of 72 hours before 6 pm today have come into force. Security forces are on high alert to stop the flow of money or drugs at this last moment. SST and FST are operational. The borders of neighboring states are being sealed so that no bad elements can come from there to influence the elections.
She also said that under Section 126, there will be a ban on opinion polls and exit polls in the last 72 hours. She said that the election campaign will end on May 30 at 6 pm, after which no public meeting will be held.
C Vigil and other grievance system are operational and all 258 grievances have been redressed. She appealed to all the voters to come to the booths to vote on June 1 without any fear or apprehension. Voting is both our right and our duty. Therefore, everyone should consider it as a duty.
On this occasion, SSP Dr. Pragya Jain said that strict security arrangements have been made by the police in the district. 71 patrolling parties have been formed in the district. 13 QRT teams have been deployed. She said that after the implementation of MCC, the police in the district have recovered drugs, cash and liquor worth more than Rs 57 crores. The police department has also taken action against 750 people who created trouble in the elections. More than 3000 police personnel have been deployed to conduct the election process in a smooth manner and central security forces will also be deployed at sensitive booths.
