Chandigarh, May 27 (WISHAVWARTA):-All the former mayors and deputy mayors of the BJP today challenged Congress candidate Manish Tewari, laying out the record of development works done by the party in the last ten years.
Adressing a press conference, former Mayors Subhash Chawla and Ravikant Sharma said Tewari every day accuses the BJP that no work has been done by MP Kirron Kher in Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency in the last ten years.
He said all the former mayors and deputy mayors of the BJP have gathered on Monday because Manish Tewari has been telling lies after lies since the first day of getting the ticket. Everyone has gathered to expose the lies being told by Tewari again and again. .
Chawla and Sharma gave details of the work done by MP Kirron Kher in Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency between 2014 and 2024. Former Mayor Kamla Sharma, Asha Jaiswal, Sarvjeet Kaur, Poonam Sharma, Rajesh Kalia, Ravikant Sharma, Subhash Chawla, KK Adiwal, Deputy Mayor Rajendra Sharma were present.
Chawla said Tewari has been emphasising two things from the first day of his election campaign. One is campaigning that he is there to save the Constitution and the other is saying that BJP has not done anything in the last ten years. He said that today Chandigarh is counted among the big cities of the country.
He said Tewari should give the details of what Tewari has done in the two places where he won the elections till now, to the people of Chandigarh.
Chawla said Manish Tewari only knows how to lie. He had once planned to contest elections from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to take advantage of his Tewari surname, but people there showed him black flags and chased him away because the people of UP were aware that he has not works in Punjab.
Ravikant Sharma said the Congress is an issue-less political party today. So called honest leaders of this party are lodged in different jails of the country. Kirron Kher has done a lot of development work during her tenure.
He asked Tewari whether the Congress had increased the medical seats in Chandigarh in the last ten years? BJP MP Kirron Kher did the important work of increasing medical seats from 50 to 200. Apart from this, new buildings of Secretariat and DC office were constructed, whereas during the tenure of Congress government, there were only discussions regarding development works, but work was done.
Chawla said the work of eliminating the problem of the next 40 years by arranging additional 29 MGT water in Chandigarh was done by the BJP.
Underpass was constructed in Mani Majra, roads and cycle track were built, garbage disposal was arranged along with issues of sanitation workers, BJP councilors remained among the public even during the days of Covid. In 2021, 13 villages were developed with Rs 102 crores. Chandigarh got the benefit of the Prime Minister’s schemes. The work of confirming 400 and a half class IV employees was done.
After installation of LED lights, electricity expenditure worth Rs 1 crore was reduced by Rs 50 lakh. Flyover at Tribune Chowk, 1200 flats for police personnel, new building of UT Secretariat, entire city covered with CCTV cameras under Smart City Scheme. Happened. World class high mast lights and arrangements for children’s entertainment have been made. A new trauma centre has been built, community center, health center, multipurpose health center, flats for doctors in 48 sectors, important work has been done to save Chandigarh city from pollution by operating electric buses.
