All the 452 Polling Locations to be mapped with nearby Government Health Facilities besides standby Ambulances
ASHA Workers to be present on booths to provide first aid
SAS Nagar, May 21, 2024 (WISHAVWARTA):- In the wake of hot weather conditions, the Mohali Administration has chosen ORS Packets, Sweet and Cold Drink water chhabeels, shades and Tents, Coolers and fans to save the polling staff and voters from the heat waves on Poll day, said District Election Officer Aashika Jain, today.
While reviewing the arrangements from the officers connected with various activities of elections, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Jain said that we have a total of 452 polling locations where an ASHA worker would be deputed with a minimum of 30 ORS sachets besides basic medicines Paracetamole and anti-vomiting tablets. Besides, all the polling locations would be mapped with nearby Government Health Facilities, in case of the need to rush heat wave-affected staff or voters there. Apart from that, ambulances would be kept on standby in case of emergency, she added.
The ASHA workers along with Anganwadi Workers would be imparted training-cum-interaction with the sector officers and polling staff during the upcoming polling staff rehearsals on May 26 and 31, she further added.
The Civil Surgeon Dr Davinder Kumar who was also in the meeting, apprised the DC that all the ASHA workers and Anaganwari workers would be imparted basic training to care for the heat wave victims primarily before rushing to the nearby Health Facility. Apart from that all the Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, Sub Divisional Hospitals and District Civil Hospital in Mohali will be kept ready to tackle any emergency on that day due to hot weather.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to provide fresh cooked food to the polling staff during their night stay and morning duty at polling booths. The food would be cooked by the Mid Day Meal workers, she added.
She directed the AROs and ADCs to use extra alertness during rehearsals of polling staff too to save them from heat waves.
ADC (G) Rajiv S Tidke, Commissioner MC Mohali Navjot Kaur, ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann, ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhry, Additional Cheif Administrator GMADA Amarinder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Davinder Kumar and AROs Depankar Garg, Gurmander Singh and Himanshu Gupta were among the officers present at the meeting.
