Mohali Administration Gets Tough on Illegal Constructions Adjacent to Chandigarh Boundary
Two booked while action recommended against Nine more
SAS Nagar, May 14(Satish Kumar Pappi) Taking a serious view of illegal constructions coming up in villages adjacent to the Chandigarh boundary, the Mohali Administration has lodged an FIR against two persons from Jhampur village while action has been recommended against Nine more from Teera village.
Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that as the area falls under the Punjab New Capital (Periphery) Control Act, 1952, so there is a prohibition of new constructions without prior approval.
The GMADA (outside MC limits) and local bodies have been asked to take quick action against the illegal constructions, she added.
Apart from that, Rural Development and Panchayat Department’s District Officials have been asked to monitor the illegal constructions in the rural belt particularly land falling in Lal Dora.
She said that the authorities dealing with the regulation on construction have been asked to keep a close vigil on the illegal construction and demolish the same, in case, the person violates the rules and regulations, with immediate effect.
The Deputy Commissioner said that in a few cases, the action of demolition has already been taken and the list of others is being prepared by the authorities concerned.
She warned the people not to indulge in activities of illegal construction otherwise they have to face the music as per law.
