DPS Chandigarh hosts its first Cubing Competition
Chandigarh, October 19 (WISHAVWARTA):- Delhi Public School Chandigarh on Saturday successfully hosted the DPS Chandigarh Cube Open 2024, its first-ever cubing competition. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 140 students across Classes VI to XII, featuring popular cubing categories such as 2×2, 3×3, Pyraminx, and 4×4. Some of the best performances included solving the 3×3 cube in under 20 seconds and the 4×4 in under one minute.
The school’s Cubing Club organized the competition, led by Head Girl Suhani Sharma, a dedicated speedcuber with over five years of experience. Suhani, who has held the WCA Indian National Record (Female) in 4×4 (2022) and the title of Fastest Female Cuber at the Gurugram Open 2023, founded the club to share her passion for cubing and mentor fellow students. She also secured sponsorship from Cubelelo, who provided the event’s equipment, medals, and discount coupons.
Head Boy Jagrit Sood, an avid cuber, and 30 dedicated volunteers played a crucial role in making the event a grand success. Teams were formed for event management, poster design, data entry, and the essential roles of judges, runners, and scramblers.
Gurinder Singh served as the teacher-in-charge of the Cubing Club, while Ms. Sapna Nagpal presided over the prize distribution ceremony. She praised Suhani for her inspiring initiative and encouraged students to view the Rubik’s Cube as a “magical toy” that fosters curiosity, playfulness, and problem-solving skills.
