Punjab Government Releases ₹22.33 Crore for Honorarium to Anganwadi Workers: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Chandigarh, 24 September (WISHAVWARTA): Punjab government has been released An amount of ₹22.33 crore to provide honorariums to Anganwadi workers and helpers for community-based events conducted by them.
Providing further details, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that during the current financial year 2024-25, ₹22.33 crore has been allocated for honoring Anganwadi workers and helpers for community-based events conducted for year 2021-22, 2022-23, and up to 30 September 2024.
The Cabinet Minister mentioned that community-based activities are conducted on the 14th and 28th of every month in Anganwadi centers across the state. She noted that ceremonies for the Goad Bharai of pregnant mothers and for distributing SNP to mothers of lactating mother are also held. Anganwadi workers receive an honorarium of ₹500 per activity, while helpers receive ₹250.
Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that children up to 6 years old, as well as pregnant and lactating women, are provided with complementary nutrition, vaccination, health education, and referral services through Anganwadi centers. Additionally, non-formal preschool education is offered to children aged 3-6 years.
The Social Security Minister reiterated that the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is paying special attention to the health of children, girls, and women, implementing various initiatives in the Anganwadi centers across the state.
